AAA Travel Counselors Name Their Favorite Northwest Road Trips
Summer is here and families are hitting the road. AAA’s survey results for the past two travel holidays, Memorial Day and Fourth of July, have indicated double digit increases in the number of people traveling compared to these holidays last year. Much of this increase is due to an improved economy, steady gas prices and pent up travel demand.
To help people get a start on their summer road trip plans, AAA Washington asked 50 of its Member Travel Counselors, who assist thousands of members every year with their travel plans, to pick their favorite summer road trips. Here are their top picks:
- North Cascade Loop – From I-5: Hwy 20 east to Okanogan, Hwy 97 south to Leavenworth, Hwy 2 west to I-5.
- Chuckanut Drive – Burlington to Bellingham on Hwy 11
- Columbia River Gorge – Hwy 14 from Vancouver to Plymouth, cross the bridge into Oregon, follow I-84 to Portland
