Be Prepared for Stormy Weather
 WINTER STORM WARNING! When you see these words, do you know if your home is prepared to withstand the cold? Follow these winter safety tips to prevent weather-related damage to your home:
- Locate and mark your main water shut-off valve with paint or a visible tag. Test the valve in advance.
- Remove and drain all outdoor hoses.
- Turn off outside water lines and open the outside spigots to drain standing water from the pipes.
- To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap outdoor faucets and pipes in unheated areas with an insulating material.
- Place an insulation jacket around your hot water heater if it is installed in an unheated space.
- Wrap electric heat tape around any pipes that have previously been frozen.
- Find a trusted plumber and keep their name and phone numbers handy.

The festival is February 13, and will be held in Hing Hay Park. Some of the exciting multi-cultural entertainment includes Lion and Dragon dances, Taiko drumming, drill-team performances, a scavenger hunt, children’s costume contest and more! Events are scheduled between 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Visitors can end their visit to the International District with a visit to the Kobe Terrace, filled with Japanese cherry trees, or the fantastic Chinatown Gate at South King Street.
